start
my computer
right click on - C: drive
bottom of list - left click on properties
left click on second tab at the top of the pop up TOOLS
left click - error checking - CHECK NOW
place checks in both boxes - START
(and you may need to reboot your computer to engage this activity - as the computer does not need to have any other programs running when this runs)
best of luck
