A friend gave let me install his studio 8 educational version (Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Flash) but it says I need a serial number to continue using it - it worked fine for about a month - does anybody have this number? Is it legal?

Thanks

The software was three separate applications called
Macromedia Flash 8

I think what you are looking for is the registration or activation number, but I could be wrong about that.

Serial numbers are unique to each copy of the program. The activation numbers are unique to each time you load it. You may need to purchase another licence* so that you can put it on another computer, and that can be done by contacting Macromedia.

If it comes with more than one licence, when you register, you will be able to continue using the program. If you need to buy a licence, it will tell you.

All updates will require you to provide your serial number.

If I gave you the serial you would then have an illegal copy as you do not own the license.
