powerpoint makes me move and resize objects to an amount thats not precise at all. how do i change this setting? thanks.

Press Cntl-G on the keyboard. Make sure that Snap objects to grid is unselected and then press OK. This will allow you to freely move and resize objects.

Right Mous click on the Object area and look for the Properties of the Object. One of these should be size, as well as Placement; define the elements there or in the properties of the page

I've only tried this when moving pictures in Word: hold in Shift (or maybe Control, I don't remember) and while holding, move the picture by using the arrow keys, not the mouse.
