Check and see if cables are the same type if not your gonna need an adapter. Connect VGA cable from monitor to laptop.
You might depending on your laptop need to hold function key and press one of the F keys for example press and hold (function) key then press (F5) is the most common. function key is normaly blue letters (func) or somthing like that. Look for the F key with somthing that looks like a monitor. hold (func) and press that key multiple time pauseing a few seconds inbetween and you should see your laptop picture on the external monitor

Generally speaking, you connect a monitor to a notebook computer via the SVGA jack in the back of the notebook. You will probably have a function key on the keyboard that will toggle between video modes -- notebook monitor, external monitor, and both monitors.

Just connect the monitor to the VGA (Blue colored) connector on the back of your Notebook

If your using Windows XP it will "Just work"
