Because I have a laptop, and it doesn't have as much space as a regular computer, I am afraid that downloading Limewire will slow it down. Is this true?

Limewire itself won't slow down your computer. If you download limewire and that's all, your computer will be pretty much the same.

The problem comes in when you download a virus. You can avoid that by being smart and not downloading .exe files. As long as you don't download a virus or spyware, you should be fine.

Now, you should have antivirus and antyspyware as mentioned above. That should catch any viruses or spyware that come onto your computer accidentally.

Hope this helps you.

Limewire folder takes up approximately 18 MB of space on your hard drive.
Will it slow your computer down by taking up 18MB of space on your probably 60,000MB or larger hard drive (1,024MB = 1Gig most laptops have 60Gig hard drive or larger) .. I doubt it seriously.
Limewire of course is a Peer-2-Peer program. When it's P2P, people can alter files that you are downloading to put whatever they want in them, or rename a virus to make you think it is legit.
Run a good antivirus and adhere to the rules.

Lime-wire CAN slow down your computer, unless you take precautions. If you have a good anti-virus, such as PC Cillin, then you're set. Nortan Anti-Virus is about the most pathetic virus protection you can get, so don't rely on that. Also, keep in mind that downloading porn and other related things can KILL your computer. Try to limit yourself to how many songs and movies you download, and you should be just fine. Hope it helped.

No - unless your laptop is 10 years old. There are two different types of memory you are using. And to slow the computer down you would need to affect the RAM. Now running the application may slow it down, but simply downloading it will not slow your computer down.
