My husband sprayed this stuff in our kitchen faucet to see if it would take the high pitched squealing sound away when we turned the cold water on. I just wanted to know if there is a chance that this chemical WD-40 is going to get in our drinking water now, or if it will just evaporate away. It turned out we just needed to tighten the aeriator.

it is a light oil. water and oil don't mix. You can run some water in a clear glass and hold it up to the light, if there is any oil, you will see rainbow like colors. I wouldn't be concerned, but you could make him sleep on the sofa tonight!

It's possible a drop or two could get in your water, but you'd have to drink the whole can of the stuff to be harmed. The water will gradually wash it away, and certainly will dilute it; I wouldn't worry about it.

Just run the water for a bit. I'd use hot too. That should clean it out.
