I have a rather large entertainment center. It has the 2 sides and then the TV stand in the middle. The top looks rather bare and I was thinking of putting a plant of some sort on the top. It can't be too heavy as I don't want it falling through! And would need to be easy to maintain. Would prefer something that would grow the length of the top of the entertainment center. I thought of ivy, but I had some and it died rather quickly. I did also have a philadendron on the top but it didn't fare to well either. It's still alive but prefers more light than it was getting. Any suggestions? Thanks!

use a plant that prefers shade and can tolerate the slightly higher temperature on the top of the tv center. ivy would do well, but you have to have a variety that will do well in the drier area as the tv will tend to dry the area above it more than if it was placed on an end-table or coffee table.
also, you may find it necessary to water it more often due to the drier condition, as well as use a plant food like miracle grow to ensure the plant has good nutrition to draw on.
go to a plant store and ask them for suggestions, based on your region.

If you like your entertainment center consider silk flowers, The new ones look great. You don't have to water them so there is no danger of water damage to the Entertainment center, they are very light and they always look good.
