***I have a coworker who is always on the phone, yelling one person or another. When she hangs up, she always boasts of her nastiness with remarks like "I guess I just TOLD her".
***I have people calling me, fussing about the medical bills they get from us b/c their insurance company assigned a deductible, denied the service as non-covered etc. These people are using chewing my *** when I cannot help that they got a bill.

So, tell me. Why do you think that people are so proud of the absolute rudeness? What kind of world will our kids & grandkids live in?

It's unfortunate but some people simply love to complain - they thrive on it. I've got a lady who sits in the cubicle next to mine. She'll call me over to her desk to 'look at something' and when I get there she complains to me about some error someone else made - like who cares? the world is full of mistakes and part of getting paid for our job is working through the problems.

I don't pay attention to complainers any more. I don't initiate conversations or pay attention when they're complaining and looking for an audience. Get some ear-buds, put on some tunes and get absorbed in to your work - the less you're sucked in to their saga - the better day it'll make for you.

It's about power. Your friend feels a rush of power from making people fustrated and they can't respond.

Ask for your clients, its about lack of power. They believe they are right and get fustrated when they can not do anything about it. You got a lousy job. Handling medical claims, you get the brunt of peoples fustration. The people are also angry, because they are sick too. Just be patient. If you lost thousands of dollars, you might raise your voice.

makes them feel poweful, yelling at someone you hate is actually a good way to relieve stress, also to me it's kinda funny....

but seriously, it makes them feel better, more in control, and about the doctor thing, since you can't yell back cuz you'll get fired, put them on hold and tell them you'll try to fix it then come back and give a whole bunch of b/s excuses making it sound polite and as if you're to stupid to know any better.

it's really satisfying cuz '' before stupidity the gods are powerless''

Life is a lot easier for some people when they don't have to have compassion for anything or anyone. They are very self-centered, but some may not even be able to really help it. They see this when they see their relationships failing.

Ignorance. Low self esteem issues. These phone calls give her the power she's lacking in her life.
