The pound has lots of great options, many under 20lbs. Don't worry about breed, but rather personality. Some small dogs won't be happy in a small area.

As much as you may want one, until you are in a residence that allows the dog to have a yard and privacy for you both, maybe you should stick with fish as pets right now.
It is not fair to take a puppy into a dorm living situation.

Min Pins are ADORABLE but soooooooo high maintenance. If you are in a dorm, and therefore college, your schedule is probably pretty hectic so I'd actually suggest a Maltese. Their care can be expensive but they can be paper trained and a 'puppy cut' helps keep down the grooming time and expense. Check with your roommate though, you don't wanna be the person that no one wants to live with...

None. Living in that small of an area, no dog would be a good idea. Dogs bark and could get you into trouble plus dog's need room to run.

Go to your local Humane Society they can help you personally. You can give them information that you may not want to give here. They could even help you decide on the kind of pet because dogs do need to have space even if they are small, they need to run and have room. I have dogs and cats......my dogs are busy the cats are more easily contained(for lack of a better word). If you want it to work you need to get personal help that a website can't give you.

I suggest that dogs are great, but they need lots of attention and walking time. Plus thats a really small place, if it dosen't work then ferret, hampster, etc.
But a dog would be a Shih Zhu, Chiuahua, or sumthing else.

I had a maltese when I was younger and she was a wonderful dog. They are about 8 pounds. They require regular grooming though. We always kept ours in what is called a puppy cut so we didn't have to constantly brush and detangle her fur.

Go to your local animal shelter. They have lots of great dogs that just need a second chance at life. Shelter dogs rule!
