if i need a poo, and i am nowhere near a toilet, then i cant stop pumping. then when i finally find said toilet, and have a poo, the pumps miraculously stop. my question is, is my poo that is sitting in the pipe waiting to get out, continuously releasing gas?

if i collected 2 poos, one taken as soon as i needed it, and one after needing it for a long time, and put both in a tank of water, both in upturned glasses also full of water. would the glass containing the poo i had as soon as i needed it collect a larger amount of gas than the poo i had after needing it for a long time?

please feel free to flame me for being utterly disgusting. this is something i would honestly like answered.

Its the bacteria on your poo that make the gas, but they also need oxygen to live. Putting the poo in an upturned glass of water would cut off oxygen and eventually no more gas would be produced.

Both poop's (if they were the same size and had the same # of bacteria on them) would produce the same amount of gas, no matter how long it was sitting in you for. The rotting of poop starts at the start of your large intestine (colon) and continues until the poop has fully rotted.

The poop would rot more efficiently in your body where it is warmer but overall the same amount of gas would be produced for equal sized poops that contain the same food source from the same person at the same time (in other words if a poop had an identical twin they would produce the same amount of gas.)

Hope this answered your question so you don't have to try it out for your self.

Feces on their own do not produce gases; rather, bacteria produce the gases as they digest other organims' nitrogenous wastes. (An important process for plants, as they require the nitrates released by the bacteria)
