Both. As in some are built into the stack, while others are just a straight chunk of pipe with the muffler down below. The ones with the muffler below are quite small--and tend to be highly restrictive.

I've seen a few Rams with them, but never a Dakota. It's a great look. On the ones that I saw, the muffler had to have been underneath the truck because the stack just had the heat shield on it.

I honestly have a ninety 8 Silverado and it become instantly piped( no cats or muffler, basically pipe instantly from the engine) on account that August til at present. i love the sound it made. tremendous loud. yet lately I had undesirable engine issues. The truck might want to putter even as i might want to be on the gasoline and after I left off, it would want to leap undesirable. i love instantly pipes, they're outstanding. yet contained sooner or later. i doesn't advise it for detrimental the engine time previous regulation. Doing instantly pipe from cat lower back is sweet. no longer as loud yet nonetheless respectable. it truly is basically my opinion yet i'm in consumer-friendly words 18 so outstanding because it really is for a mushy guy to assert, it truly is no longer worth it.
