Lets face it the American people demanded change (especially in the Iraq situation) this past November. We expressed our desire to see our troops headed for home. So to me it is apparent that the Leadership before the election lost due to this War failures. Now Bush is sending more Troops....is this being done to try to show that the Democrates can't do any better? That even with a Democratic Congress Iraq still is a failure!
It appears that Bush just doesn't care what we the Americans think....he is pushing forward with his own agenda.
What do you think?

I honestly think he's gotten himself in such a big mess that he's not sure which way is up anymore!
The troops are exhausted and need to come home! Our military isn't at it's best anymore, because they are so worn out! All I know is that no matter what Bush says, does, or enforces we as Americans need to keep letting the troops know we are behind them!
THEY DON'T HAVE A CHOICE! They have to go! Remember that! And if they hadn't signed up we would have already reinstated a draft. So give them your support, it means the world to them.

Your information is incorrect. People demanded a change of strategy in Iraq based on polls. They stated they were not happy with the way the war was being handled. However, in these polls the majority also stated they did not believe abandoning Iraq was the right course to follow either. This simple fact puts your conclusions in error. Mr. Bush has heard the people and is changing the strategy. Whether this new strategy will be successful remains to be seen, but it hardly constitutes not listening to the people. As to Democrats they can damage themselves without help from the President. They do this by distorting facts and constantly changing position, proving that their ultimate goal is to embarass the President in any way possible. Let's examine some of these positions.
Before Mr. Bush was elected most Democrats believed and stated publicly that Hussein had WMDs and acknowledged that he was a threat. They then changed their story when someone was actually willing to act on this contention and have tried to erase these statements as though they never happened. This is dishonest politics.
When the war began they stated that the President was in error because he didn't listen to the generals and send more troops. I believe they were correct in this.
They claim to be totally against the war while continuing to support funding for the action. This is dishonest politics.
They demanded that the President follow the recommendations of the ISG. One of these reccomendations was surge in troop strength in Iraq. They are now against more troops. Dishonest politics.
The Democrats are locked into a defeatist mentality and have proved that they are not interested in compromise, bipartisanship, or any solution which does not provide the outcome they require.

Regardless of what you want to believe there are still a significant portion of the people who believe we need to get the job done in Iraq. Just because the Democrats took over the Congress does not mean that the American people sent a mandate to the President to leave Iraq unfinished.
Everyone seems to forget that the Democrats won in November almost by the smallest margin possible.
Bush is listening. The fact he spent the time to more closely evaluate the situation in Iraq and take advice from numerous outlets tells us all that he is listening. You folks wanted a change, well you have it. Perhaps it is time to rally behind our President and get the job done now so our men and women can start coming home.

I don't think it's fair to call the democratic congress in Iraq a failure yet. It's still very new. It will hopefully catch on if given time.
As for Bush not bringing the troops home, he doesn't feel that the job is done. I think he'll only start bring our boys home as soon as the Iraqi insurgents stop portesting and actually give their new government a sporting chance. Bush is more concerned with what he thinks is right, not with what's popular. Having said that, I don't think he could give a rat's @ss about the successful lead of the democrats. If they think they can do better, I think he'd rather leave them to it after he's done his part.

Weren't many in the democratic party calling for MORE troops to be sent just a short while ago? This just shows me that no matter what Bush tries to do, he will be met with resistance. All this talk about failure in Iraq, isn't that thanks to all this "unbiased" reporting? If we really want to know what is going on over there, better to ask someone in the military who HAS been there. Who better to ask? Yes, I believe that Bush DOES care what American's think, but I believe that he is more concerned with our safety. Let's face it, we can all give our opinions, but none of us is privy to the inside information to know what is actually going on, and the president can NOT just worry about popular opinion.

I think that Mr. Bush had to clean up the mess Bill Clinton left the government in and some people just don't understand the real threat people like Saddam and Bin Ladin are to America.
WAKE UP! They succeed in bringing down the twin towers. THEY struck first and would have probably continued their bloody quest to eliminate America. If Mr. Bush didn't put us on high alert we would be decimated by those countries. We have to protect ourselves at least. If you can't see this go live in Iran or one of those countries and be happy. I can't believe how many people can't see what is happening. I'm sorry but I think they are stupid and couldn't run a government to save their lives. People who think they could do better than Mr. Bush ought to try and stop the invasion of the Muslim insurgents. They'd be beheaded just as soon as they walked in the door.
What would you do if they started to drop bombs on America?

By these polls, it seems that the American people are just as ticked off at Congress as they are the President. The Congress are the ones who should be listening and reflecting the people and they aren't doing that, apparently.
President Bush Job Approval
Approve 35.7%
Disapprove 59.7%
Spread: -24%
Congressional Job Approval
Approve 30.3%
Disapprove 62.3%
Spread: -32%

If adding 20,000 troops to Iraq works, he'll be considered a "hero". If it doesn't a Democratic president in 2009 is pretty likely.

I think that you don't pay attention to what's going on, or have a very short memory, or both. Congress voted to authorize this war and President Bush has been doing just that. With the exception of Fat Teddy, the Democrats have been clamoring for a troop surge to put a quicker end to the war and now that President Bush is doing just that, they're criticising him for it. What's that I hear? FLIP-FLOP-FLIP-FLOP-FLIP-FLOP-FLIP-FLOP, the national anthem of the Democratic Party

President Bush is doing what is in the best interest of our troops, the Iraqis and the American people. Unlike the Democrats, he does not let the uneducated American citizens (meaning uneducated in national security) dictate the war efforts nor does he let popular opinion jeopardize our efforts.
He is much smarter than many give him credit for. I applaud his efforts!
