Because of health implications from exposure to lead, it's not used for much of anything anymore. Though as a soft, easily workable metal, it USED to be in just about everything.

Most of the current uses for lead are in things where you wouldn't want to get exposed. They make bullets and shot out of it, for example, and it's one of the metals used in the interior of pretty much all car batteries. Being cheap and heavy, it is sometimes used for ballast too, or for other purposes where something expendable and heavy is called for.

Lead is also one of the little-known additives to glass that makes it into fine crystal. They used to make figurines and the like out of pewter, too, which is an alloy of lead, so you may still see some of it lying around in that form. Both of these WILL spread lead into things they are in contact with, so again they're not used so much these days.

Lead is used in car batteries. By the early 2000's, the total demand for lead in all types of lead-acid storage batteries represented 88% of apparent U.S. lead consumption. Other significant uses included ammunition (3%), oxides in glass and ceramics (3%), casting metals (2%), and sheet lead (1%). The remainder was consumed in solders, bearing metals, brass and bronze billets, covering for cable, caulking lead, and extruded products.

Lead is extremely dense, so it is sometimes used as a weight. It also blocks x-rays, so it is used for shielding. These are two uses, but it is also poisenous so it is no longer used in paint.
