NaHCO3 + HCl ----> NaCl + H2O + CO2

Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate.

Baking soda is sodium hydrogen carbonate, a weak base, while HCL is a strong acid. When you add the two together:

HCl + NaHCO3 --> NaCl + CO2 (gas) + H2O (not balanced)

In other words, it will FIZZ!
