This is not a debate about global warming. Just a hypothetical question. Lets say global warming got severe, what state and/or city in the United States would you like to live in, and which would you not like to live in. State you reasons please.

I would not want to live in Florida, new Orleans, new york, London, San Francisco........ Many of the cities on the water are going to have serious permanent flooding. There will be serious shortages of housing, employment and insurance benefits. When the first cities are hit by storms and the permanent flooding, not only will the united states be affected; but the entire world. We will all be in competition for housing and jobs. Some maps project the northwest united states will be safe from flooding. However, what about housing and employment? There are not many businesses and housing developments in Montana. Also, some scientists predict an "ice age" in northern Europe (in about 30 years). If they are correct, than South America (the parts that will not have been covered by the sea) is going to be popular too. I believe some of the artifacts found in South America may be from civilizations that "survived" some of the ice ages. I hope this is true! I would like to think that there is somewhere "safe". I am so used to the everyday luxuries in life: housing, water, employment, food........I can't imagine having to fight/struggle every day for those "basics". I am 40 years old; so I feel like I have "lived". However, I cannot accept this future for the small children in the world. I want to do everything I can to help them find some joy and hope in their lives. If I can only help one child have a good life; that will be enough "compensation" for me.

If global warming were to get severe I dont think Id want to be living on earth anywhere... But with that said I think I would want to be living somewhere on a mountain deep inside a cave with supplys to last a life time. I guess living inside norad wouldnt be so bad... The last place I would want to live is NY city. That place isnt very much above sea level and its massivly populated if it starts to flood getting out of there will probably be a problem and who knows hurricans could be hitting it some time soon in the future...

Global warming is a MEASURED phenomenon. Specifically, the measured temperatures have revealed that the average temperature has risen 1 degree Celsius over the last 200 years. So, in this case, what is meant by global warming getting "really severe" is that the temp raises another degree maybe in the next 50 years.

Is it Denver that's the "mile-high city?"
I would live in the mile-high city.
Because it's up high for when the flooding starts. And it's a city, so there's plenty of man-made resources, like hospitals and people to operate machines for turning water into oxygen.

My parents used to live in Cape Coral, Florida - a city in southwest Florida of about 100,000.
The average elevation of Cape Coral is five feet above sea level.

this is actually a good question. umm...id probably avoid the rockies (melting = flooding) ummm south-east california or somewher in texas? this is because its far from the coast (flash-backs from the al gore movie!!) Also, it wil stay warmest nearest to the equator, right? and there is very minimal ocean texas and SE cali. good question tho, had fun answering it!
