I've been emitting volatile organic compounds all afternoon in the office here. I'm confident normal freshness will return before start of play tomorrow. But how does that happen?

Diffusion. The volume of air is much greater than the volume of your flatulence. Eventually the constituent molecules of your emissions will be broken down through various physical and chemical processes but they have reached below threshold of detection long before that. You are limited by the ability of your nose. I'm sure a bloodhound can tell tomorrow what you've been doing today.
