I feel bad and frustrated because i know for a fact that I cannot give good advices. My mate is currently experiencing a problem, and he knows that I'll always be there for him. I'll listen to him until my ears fall off. I just wish I can say something apart from words of consolation. I feel like I'm not being a good friend at all, and it sucks. My mate just says, "nevermind..." I'm not being helpful.

Sure, being there helps. But I don't want to just sit and listen to him. I feel so useless.

Have you ever noticed how many people jump to give you advice, even when you don't actually want it? Sometimes we just need someone to listen to us while we talk out a problem, instead of confusing us with their opinions and ideas.

I wish there were more people in my life who could listen and offer consolation without thrusting their own two pennies in. An open pair of ears is never useless, and someone who just LISTENS is a blessing!

Think of this: your comment was "...and he knows that I'll always be there for him." That is worth a billion times more than all the advice in the world. Keep being a friend that he can count on; obviously he appreciates it!

U know, u definitely are doing a good thing by simply being there for him. Sometimes that may be just what he wants. Men may not always appreciate advices from women. Next time, u give his problem a really serious thought. If u come up with any idea, SUGGEST it to him, and never advise him. That may make all the difference

Dont worry, at least he has some one like you he can tell is problems to, and some 1 he can confide in. Its hard to find people who can keep secrets at my school, but n e way
im sure he appreciates you being there for him but if you really want to be able to say somthing, just think of his problem as your own and maybe you might have a better picture of how you might go about solving it and tell it to him!
just a thought
