Mono is often spread by kissing, but not always.
It would be difficult for her to just be a carrier.

Having mono once generally (but not absolutely) gives aperson immunity. You should avoid "close" contact with her for at least a couple of weeks to be safe. Double check with your MD on how long you'll be contagiouss.

It is called the kissing disease and it is contagious and you can pass it back and forth. get treated both of you with a good antibiotic and stay away from excercise until you are well because this can cause an enlarged liver while you are sick. also you will be really tired so get all the rest u can until it runs its course and take a good vitamin with a full meal. the tiredness can linger for a few months some people get sicker than others depends on how strong the immune system is. mono is caused from the epstein barr virus which you can look up both symptons on line

Some good answers here so I'm not going to say much except add that you can be a carrier of mono without exhibiting symptoms of the disease, so it's entirely possible you got it from your girlfriend even though she isn't sick.
