Primerica doesn't advertise, so you're not the only one who hasn't heard of the company. But its getting out to the public by the word of mouth. It's slow process, but it's the best way to get clients.

Primerica is the marketing division of Citigroup. They market term life insurance, retirement plans for individuals and small business owners, educational accounts, custodial accounts, variable annuities, debt consolidation, long term care, home loans, and prepaid legal service.

There are two sides of Primerica. There is a corporate side, which you can only be hired base on qualifications, and the business side, which you were just partially exposed to.

On business side, you are an independent agent. You can either build your business by yourself or invite people to see the opportunity themselves and let them make up their own mind. If they join, that's great. You now have a small team that can grow larger. You're not going to be training them at the beginning, so there will be other people there to train them. You won't get paid by recruiting people, but you do get paid when they help a family out. That's why the person who talked to you wanted to see if you are the type of person who would like to build a business in finance.

Primerica is a valid business, but there is a hitch. You are always trying to get associates under you so you can collect on their commissions too.

The company IS a reputable company. They provide financial services (mutual funds and such). Go to their site (www.primerica.com). The guy below is right. While in training to become one of their associates, a friend of mine was trying to recruit me. I had to pass on that.

Don't do it. This is a scam type job. I am familiar with this. Anything that is too good to be true ... IS too good to be true. You have to question why these people are begging for employees all the time. It is a form of multi level marketing. Any business that is worth getting involved in will be 100% straight forward with you from point A to point Z ... they don't
