My family recruits designers such as Bob Mackie, Marc Bauer, and Chloe from Project Runway. All of them are unique... but what made them special was a great portfolio, great personality, and luck. Chloe is the exception here, because she won a contest rather than going through the pains of a normal fashion designer's career.

Get internships and jobs at major fashion design businesses. You'll have the chance to work with stores, average consumers, and then be able to build up the skill needed to serve a celebrity. When that time comes, you'll need to be in NYC or LA. NYC is for fashion design, but most of the entertainment celebs are in LA... both in which you need connections, connections, connections.

Get to know agents, publicists, fashion designers, and some celebrities yourself. I'm in business... and yesturday, I just met one of my biggest idols on the beach. What luck is that!

Best of luck

Go to FIT for textile design if you live on the east coast. I graduated from there and the school is incredible with career support and help finding a job in the field you are trained in.
