Put the tatoo on your a**. Yes, it will hurt and NEVER come off...at least not easily. Can you see yourself as an 80 ear old woman with a tatoo? Disgusting.

Absolutely. Think about it: you're having a needle (or many needles) repeatedly jabbed in and out of your skin over and over and over.. You get the idea. Anyway, there are some things you should know. Placement (that is, where you get your tattoo) does affect how much your tattoo will hurt. Any place that has thin skin or minimal fat padding will HURT - such places are your ribs, neck/chest, ankles/wrists, elbows, hip bones, and over the spine. Some people are more sensitive than others, so it might not hurt one person as much as it may hurt someone else. Also, getting a tattoo "filled in" (coloring and shading) hurts pretty badly, too. The tattoo artist uses multiple needles when shading or coloring, usually in stacks of 5 or 7 needles. If you get a tattoo completely done in one sitting (not recommended for large tattoos), it'll hurt more because the needles will reenter the damaged skin where the tattoo artist draws the outline. Plus, the artist uses a scraping, circling method to fill in the tattoo w/ color or shading which, of course, hurts! Finally, getting a tattoo colored or shaded w/ certain colors hurts more than others. For some reason, the most common allergic reaction to tattoo ink occurs with red ink and its subsidiaries (orange and pink). Even if you're not allergic to it, red can just plain hurt. Don't ask me why, as I have no idea. Also, getting a solid black tattoo hurts terribly, as the artist must be very accurate in the placing of the ink so that there aren't any blank spots or holes, so he/she may be a little more rough than usual. Basically, any solid color in a large area will hurt pretty badly. Anyway, what I'm getting at here is that there's no way around pain when it comes to tattoos. A tattoo is basically a controlled scarification, in which the artist injures the skin and pushes in ink so the design is permanent. If you don't like pain, then don't get a tattoo. Part of the pride of getting a tattoo is being able to put up with the physical pain, so you're just going to have to deal with it. In my experience (I have one large, unfinished tattoo across the middle of my back and spine), my tattoo didn't really hurt that bad. I was very nervous, as I HATE needles, but once I was a few minutes into it the pain sort of went from being a throbbing, burning pain to more of an annoyance. It felt like a very bad sunburn when it was done, and I was a bit sore for a week. I ended up having my boyfriend wash it with dial soap (to prevent infections) and I continually kept it moistened for about 2 weeks with cocoa butter (a cheap and excellent lubricant for tattoos, btw). It healed fine with minimal fallout. I hope this helped some.

A tatoo on the back of the neck will hurt badly because there are so many nerve endings there. (Nerve endings are also dense on the mouth, fingertips, genitals, toes, etc...)
You can test the relative density of nerve endings using one friend and 2 toothpicks. Close your eyes. Have your friend *gently* press the tips of both toothpicks into your arm, about 3 inches apart. Tell your friend to gradually make the gap smaller, until the toothpicks are nearly touching. Each time he/she moves the toothpicks, tell her if you feel one of them or both of them. You'll probably feel only one of them once the toothpicks are relatively close together.
But if you do this on the back of your neck (or your lips, etc) you'll be able to feel *both* toothpicks until they are almost touching. Thats because there are more nerve endings in the skin.
Try this test on various places. It may help you predict which places are more painful than others.

You would wanna get it on your arm since it is your first. Any areas that have mainly muscle or just bone will hurt more than an area where there is fat. Plus since it is your first you may want to keep it kind of hidden since it is your first plus guys may be coming up to you and acting like they know you just cause they see your name on your neck.

well as someone with over 12 tattoos, yes, the tatto will hurt.
and it may hurt a little more because its on the neck.
But please dont get a tattoo on the basis of what will hurt less.
Youre supposed to get one based on thats where you really want it. Honestly, maybe this is b/c i have so many, it dosent really
bother me anymore, its all the same to me; the neck and the arm
will hurt the same, it all depends on your pain threshhold.

My mom got a tattoo on her arm and she said it was like taking a needle. But I think it will hurt if you get it on your neck.

An tattoo will hurt a little. However, the one on the back of my beck hurt the least. I have three tattoos and my advice is... if you really have thought about it and like the idea then go for it. But please remember that it is permanent.

It will hurt some, kind of like a bad sunburn or scrape, it hurts more over bone, like on your ribs . Take a pain pill first, a name will be quick to do.....Shouldn't hurt THAT much, the pain is the price to pay for a tattoo, if they didn't hurt then everybody would want one...........................
