Take a look at the arm -- there should be an adjustment for downward force. Yours is probably set too light for the cartridge you have on it. If you slightly increase the downward force, it will stay in the groove and not skip out.

You may also need a new needle for the cartridge; Radio Shack can order most for you.

what make/model of turntable ? as this will tell if it is worth repairing.
Lots of good deals on ebay for used high qaulity tables with good stylus installed. check pawn shops, second hand stores or even local paper to see what people are selling locally.

if the table is something of value , take it to a local hi-fi shop that sells highend gear they will either have someone on staff or recomeend a repair depot.
they can also advise if worth repairing
