I'm not sure if I should buy one or not. So seeing as there are many things to take into account, I would like to ask Wii owners their opinions on a few things.
$249 for one, is it worth it?
Does playing with it require any movements that make alot of noise {Like, jumping, running etc}.?
I have a gamecube, are the Wii graphics better than that of the gamecube?
Does the Wii have any bad points?
Will the movements give you any pain in your arms?
I don't usually have other people to play with, is it still fun to use by yourself?

-- $249 for one, is it worth it?
Yes. The price is cheap compared to the other systems out there. Plus, it comes with WiiSports and enough gear to play solo (which it sounds like you will want to do out-of-box anyway) so you could feasibly spend no more than $249 and be pretty happy.
-- Does playing with it require any movements that make alot of noise {Like, jumping, running etc}.?
It doesn't require these movements, but it's more fun if you stand up and "get into the game" when you play. Plus, it doesn't hurt to get off the couch and move around while you're playing. Like others mentioned, you don't have to but it adds to the fun factor.
-- I have a gamecube, are the Wii graphics better than that of the gamecube?
The graphics are slightly better. If you have an HDTV that supports 16:9, you are going to love it. Get component cables to make use of progressive scan. From what I hear, games in the pipe are actually going to be much more impressive graphically (Metroid 3, Super Mario Galaxies, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and the follow up to Zelda Twilight Princess). Yes, I said the follow up to Zelda TP. TP was designed with Gamecube graphic capabilities in mind, so it really looks similar to a Gamecube game...
-- Does the Wii have any bad points?
Well, if you devour games quickly or are not willing to try out alternative style games (Elebits, Trauma Center, Rayman Raving Rabbids) then you might get bored quickly. However, I find that there is plenty to entertain until the next wave of releases comes along (WarioWare sounds awesome so I can hardly wait for that as well).
Plus, Virtual Console games are pretty fun to dive into as well. If there are any drawbacks so far, it's the lack of availability (I spent most of the holiday searching for a second nunchuk in hopes of getting some holiday 2 player boxing in...it was totally worth it).
-- Will the movements give you any pain in your arms?
No more than a little light exercise would. Think back to when your hands had to get adjusted to the NES controllers...or the PS2 for that matter...Besides, it feels good to get some exercise in those arm muscles : )
-- I don't usually have other people to play with, is it still fun to use by yourself?
Totally. WiiSports has a pro-level to aspire to, and the training modes offer a mini-game approach to playing each sport. Zelda is perfect for solo-gaming, and I find myself fishing every once in a while just to pass the time.
Take the plunge into the Wii (if you can find one). You won't be disappointed.

The wii is the best value of all three systems. The weak points are the graphics aren't very good, slightly better than gamecube, but nowhere in the ballpark of the other two systems. there's also the issue of hardware shortages.

Everyone I know who has one, including me, has not been disappointed. The graphics are its weakness, but you will have so much fun playing it you won't even notice. You can stand up and go all out with the movements, but you can also sit comfortably in your chair and play with small wrist movements if you don't feel like getting up. It is definitely worth the money, and you wont be disappointed.

No, you may purely use a game cube controller for game cube video games, because it has buttons the classic controller does not. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, game cube controllers would be picked up for greater or less £5/$10 at an area game keep or someplace like Amazon. wish this enables, Tom.
