Islam and the West?

Question

Is Islam's hatred for the west purely because of our support for Israel? I think it's odd that a religion that believes in the same god as Christians do have such hatred for us. Has any one ever figured out why they don't hate China for being an atheist country?

Pretty impressive question - the reason that most Islamic fundamentalists hate the west is simple. Their clerics preach death to America - largely based on the 1978-79 Iranian fundamentalist revolution...

If they were better educated, and actually read the Koran, they wouldn't be running amok as they are.

But poverty and illiteracy combine to allow a fundamentalist (note this is happening in the US with Christianity) war directed by the Imams...

The radical Islamic people hate the US, because we don't believe the way they believe and consider us infidels. Like the Catholic church consider them during the crusades.

The Moderate Islamic people hate the US, because we are now supporting Israel, and have been told lies about why we are in Iraq.

But like some of our new immigrants in the US the Muslims don't want to fully integrate into our society and I even feel some of them feel we should change our thinking into their way of thinking.

What really needs to happen is all leaders need to sit down and talk to one another during a cease fire. (But I'm not sure if the radical Islamic fundamentalists would go for it.) So ideas can be hashed out and a working compromise can be found. We did it with Russia, so we should be able to do it again with the Arabian countries.

But if you think there won't be wars then you sadly live in a delusional state. The human animal is territorial just like our four legged friends. Even with borders being defined, someone will always come along that will want to increase the size of their territory. The worst is people deciding to terminate another whole society.

Would education help? But a lot of the societies that have been commiting genocide lately are educated. So I'm not sure how to get people to change their minds about wiping out each other.

They hate us because of Israel, but also because we are basically a Godless society, and our women have rights, and we are free to do what we want, even if that is something bad such as promiscuous sex or abortion for example. They don't like that. Not to mention we see islam for what it is, a violent murderous cult. They want us and our children dead. Some people in the west are actually stupid enough to believe we are the bad guys, such as Svetlana above. But people with half a brain knows the real deal. Kill or be killed, that's a choice we have to make, what will it be people?

The behavior of the West, including the US, is largely the cause and understandable if we were honest. The West has meddled in the Middle East since the time of Rome, but this really became nasty when oil was discovered there. Since that time the West has bullied, bribed, deposed Presidents as in Iran in 1954, supported and supplied weapons for many dictators like Saddam, the Shah, and even The Saudi Royal Family, Mubarak in Egypt, supported Israel against the wishes of Arabs, altered the landscape, built military bases all over the region, fought wars in their territory, invaded their countries - all because of the appetite of many for the wealth and use of oil. I don't remember exactly which one, but Thomas Friedman did some documentary where he went over and spoke with regular Arab students and asked them point blank what the basis for hating America was. They said something along the lines of US support for Israel, US military forces in their holy lands(yes, we do have troops in Saudi Arabia, and Mecca and Medina are the two holiest sites in Islam), and the constant US attempts to act like a nanny/police state. Our CIA was crucial in overthrowing their elected leaders back in, what was it, the 50's, and installing the Shah. Our government has backed certain dictators(anyone remember Reagan's administration being a bit chummy with Saddam and WMDs? anyone seen the pic of Rumsfeld shaking Saddam's hand back in the 80's?) and the fact that we practically used those dictators to force our policies down their throats without even asking if they wanted it pisses them off to no end. I sure as hell would be pissed if China came in, swept out our Constitutional Republic and all its trappings and installed an iron-fisted dictator. There is definitely propaganda, those kids Friedman spoke to thought all Americans were rich, Christian, fat, etc. and we need to combat that kind of image. The only problem is, our administration is doing the exact same thing that would piss US off if it were done to us. Forced regime change at the barrel of a gun or the point of chemical weapons(we've used napalm and white phosphorus, doctors in Iraq have irrefutable evidence) is NOT going to gain us any points over there..

our political leaders have proven that they don't have any respect for Islam, nor do I but, just because I don't like them doesn't mean I am going to support their being killed , murdered , driven off of their lands and put into refugee camps and left there for over 50 years and still support their demise in the most cruel way, would it not be better to just nuke them it would be more humane, if I caged up some animal and beat him starved him and did the cruelty that America has helped Israel perpetrate on the Palestinian people , I would be locked up for a long time,we are constantly bombarded with stories scenes movies, etc of how Hitler supposedly Gassed 6 million Jew's, hell that was damned sure humane considering what they have did to the Palestinians, and they won't get $11billion per year for reparations nor their homes back , and this is fair?? do you blame Islam for hating the U,S,?

Forget about Israel. They hate us becouse we arent muslims. They hate us becouse we dont belong to the correct version of the muslim church (which is one of the reasons to why they are fightin in iraq). They also hate us becouse christianity has killed a lot of muslims in the crusades a millenia ago and has made many agressive moves to convert muslims to christianity. But its a bad religion that has to convert to terrorist attacks and jihad to extend their terrytory. Its better to make peace and let god decide who has the correct religion (if any) when the people is dead after a long live rather than kill as many people as possible. Johan
