Well, I'll try to give you the readers digest version. During the civil war, especially in the North, people (men and women) got organized to put pressure on the government to helping to free slaves, underground railroad etc. As a result of many Christian groups looking into this issue started to raise questions about others in the USA that had a stake in our country but had no voting rights, during the Civil War via bibles and church meetings I think women started to educate themselves more so it really was a step in America's evolution that brought men and women to the realization educated, capable women should have a voice and they are an asset to their country

By lobbying in a very big way. Morotoriums; street marches; suffragettes! Every politician has a mother, a wife, a daughter somewhere! In Australia we have referendums. All I know is that when a big mob of women get together they change the world - Vietnam was a classic example!

Women fought long and hard for the right to vote.
It probably wouldn't have taken as long if they would have used a different strategy: "Samuel, let me tell you right now. Until I am allowed to vote, you ain't gettin' any!" -RKO-

It was very difficult. It took women lobbying and marching . it took nearly three generations of women to pull it off. They engaged in starvation protests and had to resort to horrific protests to obtain a voice.

They convinced men to vote in favour of the amendment (usually in the ways they use to convince men of anything).
