Are you are part of the minority who doesn't own a mobile phone? If so, do you feel self-conscious about not having one? Do you get strange looks from people when you give out your landline number?

It's still called a mobile phone in the UK, the land where English originated from.

I just think there is too much noise in the world. I like the peace and quiet in my car without interruptions. Don't want anymore bills.I don't feel anything about not having one.

Main reasons I don't have a mobile phone or cell phone:
1. Too expensive. Sure you can get a free phone with a 2 year agreement, but hidden charges/fees in that agreement may add up to more than the phone would have cost.

2. Other family members bad experience with mobile phone companies. My sis had two phones on her plan and they were supposed to have free mobile to mobile so the 2 phones could talk to each other free of charge. The charges showed up on the bill every month for four months straight. After talking with the phone company three times per month, each month, about each bill, for four straight months, my sis paid the early termination fee and got rid of the phones.

3. Security. No matter how sophisticated the phones get, they are still basically a transceiver radio, sending and receiving signals that can be detected, intercepted, recorded, etc.

While hard lines are not without their own security issues, they are still more secure than cell phone networks.

Hundreds of people are now getting phones, and guess what, even little 5th graders are getting phones! 1/2 the class has them, my little sister says...my parents aren't that kind of "people" with mobile phones. I'm jealous, and sometimes when I'm stuck at school, guess what...I have to use the payphone!!! Everyone stares at me like.."dude, get a phone, totally 90's"...!!! I don't have an iPod, I have no video games...the only thing I have is the computer...and which is crap, too. Back to the phones, my friends keep on asking get a phone, they wanna call me. My parents get mad when I'm on the phone all the time...I keep arguing they should give me a phone, so I would'nt have to hog it! I'm jealous, my friends are always playing with the phones in class, or just in general...how about you?

A mobile 'phone is an expensive invasion of privacy that intrudes into your daily way of living.
They ought to be banned for public consumption, and used only by businesses for business purposes.

They're noisy, distracting and unsociable.

We need to claim our freedoms back:

† Our freedom of movement without being (inadvertently but inevitably and necessarily) tracked where we are and when we were there for how long;
† Our freedom of privacy and association;
† Our freedom from being spied upon by Companies who want to track our spending habits, our calling behaviour and frequency, and where we buy items on credit.

There's probably many more freedoms I've neglected to mention, but hopefully you get the gist of it.
That is, it's only a matter of time before another Hitler-type comes along and uses against you your freedom to carry and use a mobile 'phone.

Yes - because it IS a nuisance!

And when asked for my mobile number I proudly announce that I don't have one - places me in an elite circlel

Of course the strange looks - but who bothers?

People just ring up because they have one - and they know that I have one.

(But I do have a mobile phone kept as a standby for my Internet connection whenever my Cable DSL fails.)

You mean there are actually people left in this world that don't have a cell phone??

Just kidding.... hey, some people just don't have the need for one.

Incidentally...I still have a landline in addition to my cell phone. I find both to be necessary.

Merry Christmas!

Because they are too expensive. There is nothing that I need to know in such a hurry tha I need to pay $40.00 a month for. Call my land line and leave me a message in the off chance that i am not home, "I will get back to you as soon as possible Later!"
