Is being gay genetic or mental for a person?

i have heard both sides but i need answers!! i think it is genetic, but people either somewhat agree with me or completely dismiss it. Its an honest opinoin. any information would be very helpful! merci beacoup.

True homosexuality is about attraction. People do not choose to be sexually attractive to males or females, but current studies show that BOTH genetics and environment play a role. Here are some interesting studies:
1. Studies on identical twins show that if one of the twins is homosexual, then about 50% of the time, the other is also homosexual. This is a very high percentage, which shows that genetics DOES affect one's sexual preference.

2. Boys with older brothers have been found to be MORE LIKELY to be homosexual. The first born brother receives more testosterone then the younger. This is not true for estrogen in females.

3. There is a theory that the "exotic becomes erotic", meaning little girls who are exposed to mostly males at a young age will view males as friends and begin to view other females as intriguing and "mysterious", sparking same-sex attraction. This is the same for males. This theory shows environmental effects, but it is only a theory. The first two above are actual studies.


There is a lot of research and debate about this, but current studies show that genetics can at LEAST make a person more likely to be homosexual. This is a fact. People who tell you otherwise are either uninformed or in denial because they are homophobic.

i imagine that's like maximum medical experiments, there is not any data that there is any genetic link to being gay. there is also no data antagonistic to it. i imagine there has been some illness someplace alongside the lines that has carried with the help of. yet you may't say that is a decision because why would someone pick a existence of prejudice and hatred in course of them? they are born that way because they are drawn to the same sex. that is a feeling and an charm. Do you pick to have thoughts of charm in course of human beings? No, that is a feeling and an charm interior you. gay human beings basically have it with the same sex and there is not some thing incorrect with that.

If you know anyone that has been in prison, or any correction officers, ask them how much homosexuality goes on in a prison. The answer is, a whole lot more than goes on outside. Now think about that for a minute.
Why is there more homosexual activity in prison? Are there that many criminals who are genetically homosexual? Does that make sense? Or, do a lot of prisoners decide to get involved in that kind of activity, because its the only game in town?

And there you have it! Homosexuality is a choice. Some prisoners reject it. Some, wouldn't be doing it if there were women available, but since there aren't, they make the choice.

Can be both. Many are doing it because it is "the thing". It seems to be in right now, or at least being bisexual. However a truly homosexual person, I feel, it is a genetic thing. I am a girl. To a homosexual, being with opposite sex is as gross to them as I feel being with the same sex would be for me. My feelings are as long as your partner is good to you and you have a great, caring, relationship, I don't care if you are homosexual, different race or anything. There are so many "normal" relationships (IE: same race, same sex) that are unhealthy.

some people prefer large men/woman
some prefer dark/light complextions
some prefer legs over behinds
some prefer dark hair over light hair
some prefer smaller men/woman
some prefer men
some prefer woman -
no one thats straight would want to be with some one they dont want so what ever the reasons are that a straight person decides to be with another straight person i imagine would be the same reasons that a gay person decides to be with another gay person -

I did a study on this topic a few years ago. The results would suggest that a person is either born gay or heterosexual. You are what you are born to be. There is not "choice" or "change".

It is mental, because some people become gay after having had a straight relationship. As well, some people go straight, after having had an alternative relationship. It is mental (a choice made), not genetic.

Studies have shown only about 1 to 2 % of homosexuals are actually born that way (genetically) and truly are homosexuals. In our free wheeling society many people equate enjoying sex with members of the same sex as being homosexual. This is not the case. . .this simply means you are a cheap sob who just likes to get off! Most people who classify themselves as homosexuals are really just emotionally disturbed.
