If you have a laptop you're out of luck but if you have a desktop you can buy a PCI 2.0 USB board. Its a hardware thing.

anyways, all you need is a USB 2.0 PCI card. make sure you have an open slot on the motherboard.
a decet one souldnot end up costing you more then $20-25. forget bestbuy, hate 'em
goto newegg.com , or ewiz.com. best products , reviews and prices.
and usb cards usually come with 4 or 5 ports and you can also add an external USB hub to add more outlets AFTER you have that internal USB 2.0 card.

oh yeah if you havent gotten it yet, its a hardware thing. nothing to deal within the software/windows

If you have existing USB1.1 ports you need hardware to upgrade to USB 2.0.

It is a card. As long as you have an open PCI slot it is an easy upgrade.
