Being in this country illegally is a misdemeanor. It is treated much like a civil tort. Technically it is a crime. But it is on the same level as not reporting all your income at tax time. You know, those cash incentives you get when you help someone out or that lottery ticket you cashed in last week. Can you just imagine your local cop arresting you for not reporting that $50 you got for shoveling snow for your elderly neighbor? Being undocumented is the same type of crime. That is why local law enforcement doesn't get involved with it. Even if they give someone a ticket for not having proper ID, the chances of them appearing in court is slim to none. The few who do have the nerve to show up in court rarely pay a fine and are instructed to contact their Consulate and get a legal ID. Kinda like being told to report that extra income next year when you file your taxes.

I love the mentality that immigrants do the jobs American won't do. How do you explain Swift and Co. then, they had a solid line out the door of Americans filling the positions of 1200 illegals that were busted the day before. Using illegals is a half-*** shortcut for profits, as each day goes by this shortcut becomes less and less profitable thanks to the voice of the American people.

That would be even more of burden. Having to build jails to house 35 million illegals. If we write them a ticket they wouldn't pay it. We simply don't have the resources presently to combat it effectively.

Because it is not being enforced. It is not a priority of the us government. Make sure to vote in the next election. There are prisons being made for illegal immigrants by halliburtion. It may change.

Too many illegal immigrants, not enough police to enforce the laws, and no one wants to enforce them. They would rather look the other way.

That is why we are so pi$$ed at our government~ for NOT enforcing the LAW which is ALREADY on the books!!

The illegal immigrants are being deported and arrested, but it could be on much larger scale if our government would give our law enforcement the ok to round 'em up and deport them quicker and easier.

It's a felony to be in Mexico illegally. Makes you wonder what the hell we're doing wrong huh? They're running people out, we're letting them in.
