I'm a server, and there is NO WAY I would have tipped the server you had, and there is NO WAY I would've left without speaking to the manager. You were right in leaving the tip for the other server, but I wouldn't have let your server know, because she could possibly be made to give it to the one that waited on you since she will be taxed for it. You need to call back and let the manager know, esepcially since she flipped you off. Who cares if it is Christmas, she deserves to be fired or written up!

I would have approached the waitress and asked her directly if she would please seat me in a section that could accomodate my needs and I would have added with some concern if she was alright, because maybe she was tired or she might have had her period or maybe she had a lot on her mind in any case something was obviously wrong with her so she might have been a victim of some out of control circumstance, but on the other hand she might have been feeling a bit sluggish or just plain lazy. It was nice of you not to mention it to the manager because I'm sure word would have gotten back to him through the other waitresses or he might have noticed this behavior on a camera which are on most premises. I wouldn't have left a note because that action could have invoked ill feelings between her and a coworker with good intentions. In any event alls well that ends well.

I would have tip the waitress that waited one you, not the one that ignored you.
I feel that if a person is doing that bad of a job, and to give you the finger as you leave, regardless of it being the holidays or not, their supervisor need to know about this.
Employees like this are bad for businesses.
You cannot fight fire with fire. I think the best thing to do would is to be polite about it. Don't lose your temper and just let whoever is in charge know about your bad experience. If nothing is done about it, avoid eating there in the future.

Good call, being Xmas and all, but flipping you off is NEVER OK, and gives all severs a bad name. I think I would give a call after the holiday passes.
I work in the type of establishment that you describe here, and it is sooooo much easier than "full-service", after doing so for many years. Therefore I guess I give a little bit more due to the fact that I know what it's like out there.
Maybe she was over-stressed and a "newbie' to boot. No excuses though. Never OK to be rude.

I think you did the right thing tipping the waitress who waited on you. Not sure I would have left a note, I probably would have just left. I certainly would not have told her boss as I hate to see anyone lose a job, especially during the holiday season.
Merry Christmas

I would have done what you did. Or perhaps if I was feeling generous, I would have tipped the good waitress the fiver and then tipped the lousy one a little something with a note saying that I was not happy with the service but I was tipping her a little something anyway because it is Christmas time.

You did good and gave the tip to the right person. Your waitress didn't deserve a tip. I think you were being to kind not to tell the manager after she flipped you off. Shows you had class. Merry Christmas to you and bah humbug to your waitress

It never fails, if stuff like that is gonna happen, it happens to me.
I personally think that you did great. The girl that was supposed to be waiting on you did not do her job, therefore, she did not deserve the tip. I guess you are a better person, than I would have been. You can bet that MY dinner would have been ON THE HOUSE and the manager would have been happy to try to make me happy.
(Not that I'm a *****, but I work for my money, I expect that when I go out to be served, and it isn't a charity event, that my service, that it should be up to Par, OR ELSE!)
Next time don't hesitate to talk to the manager, you deserve better than that, Most more than likely, your not the first person that has not been pleased with her performance.

No,I would have done the same thing you did. She obviously is not happy being a waitress(at least not that night). While I would not have talked to the manager about the service(or lack there of) alone,I would have made it a point to say something about the "bird".

Your waitress would definitely have been fired had you told the manager. That was nice of you not to. You're completely right!
