Mice will basically eat anything. However if you want to catch them in a trap cheese is actually one of mice leat favorite foods. The best things to use are penut butter, pumpkin seeds and other granular type foods.

Pellets- These are what most people give their mice, They have all the nutrients mice need. Although, when giving this food, it is more fun for your pet when given a variety of foods. Your mouse will also live longer when given a variety. Every mouse mixture should contain tehse pellets.
Sunflower Seeds - These are a very special treat for your pet. They will love these. Ofcourse, these are very fattening and should not be given too much of. These are in most mouse mixtures.
Parakeet Mix- Parakeet seeds are usually added to the mouse food mixture. These can be given , and are nutritious. But do not give them to your mouse as its regular diet. It can not survive on just this food.
Mouse Treats- These are fine as treats. Do not give too many, or your mouse may get spoiled and not want to eat its food. There are many different treats out there.
Human Food- Sometimes mice can be given human foods such as crackers, or bread. They can also be given a little bacon. Beef bones (dog buscuits) are good for mice to chew, and keep their teeth short.
Harmful Foods- Some harmful foods are: Pesticide sprayed grasses and plants, poisonous plants, and too much of a food such as vegies or cheese. (cheese can make mice sick or kill them. Peanuts and other shelled nuts are not recommended by experts because they develop molds that arent harmful to humans but easily kill mice. These cannot be seen by the human eye, and the mice will eat it whether it hs the mold on it or not.
Other- Because their teeth grow constantly, mice must have some sort of chew block or piece of wood to gnaw on. Mice must have water at all times, even if fed vegies and fruits.

You should say "what kind of foods do mice eat"? Grains, breads, Seeds most anything as they are omnivours. If you are trying to trap a mouse, use peanut butter....it is far better than cheese.
