I would agree, that in order to get the sodium out of our system, we shed tears. And the tears are salty. While I was on salt free diet, and really adhering to no sodium added to any food, by preparing my own in order to be totally without salt. I was amazed just how much better and happier I felt and there was no sadness, or tears shed. I have also observed very young children being given Potato chips, and shortly after crying and shedding tears profusely.

We have a gland that secretes this tears. This help protect our eyes from foreign bodies (like if there is something in our eyes that needs to be washed out..our eys become teary). This will also make our eyes moiturized or to keep it lubricated ( because there are some that have dry, itchy eyes, the reason why they buy tears naturalle). When we cry, tears fall because this is one way of emotional outburst, helping us to relieve of the pain. Hope this helps. God bless
