in the meantime if no one talks to me? If the owner sees me standing around, by myself while the other ones are talking to each other he singles me out and makes me do some chore or prep work, but he doesn't ask anyone else? What can I do to be busy or deal with them ignoring me?

It can be awkward and painful when you're new and you approach someone, to have them ignore you and act like you said nothing at all. They're catty to each other, too behind each other's backs. The drama gets so old. I suppose I'm semi grateful not to get sucked in.

The sad truth is that in a lot of restaurants, they have cliques.
The realistic answers I can give you is either (A) just wait for them to start to accept you. They're kinda like dogs, they have to sniff your hand and warm up to you first. Or (B) if it really bothers you, start looking for another job. Or (C) wait for them to hire another new girl and start hanging around her.
I was in the same situation a few times before, and luckily I found better job oppertunities in the mean time. So the sad truth is that there is nothing you can do NOW, you just kinda have to ride it out. Good luck.

ALL jobs have cliques. It's not just restaurants.
It sucks to be ostracized at work, because it's not like you can just quit.
You're on the right track though, By staying busy not only will be distracted from the jerks you work with, but it will look good to the boss if you're the only person taking initiative to do things on your own. You can volunteer to do the "chores" before he tells you.
I was at my job for a year and a half before they got a new person and everyone suddenly started being nice to me and rude to her.

Unfortunately this happens if you are a good worker. You are asked to do the chores because the owner knows you will do it without bickering. I don't think there is much you can do if they are ignoring you. Have you tried a breath mint or a new deodorant? That is weird that they don't talk to you. I would rather not work there, thank you very much!

They sound like jerks. Are they singling you out because you are new? Or are they just clique-ish? How childish they are. Can you find another job somewhere? I know one of the few places to get a job is a restaurant. I'd just ignore them too, they sound like creeps.
They might also be jealous of you too (like they are ugly, and you aren't). I worked with some people that if you are nice to them, they treat you like dog dirt, but the moment I started ignoring them, not even looking at them at all, acting like they didn't exist, they started treating me nice. Or, this other woman, I got into a verbal fight with her, then after that she started being nice to me! I think some people are so stupd they think that if you are nice you are 'weak'. How ignorant! But, sometimes true.

Since you're the new girl, the other girls don't know you well enough to let you in their inner circle. You'll probably be welcomed in in time. Meantime, since you are the new girl, you should be the one doing the extra chores and prep work. Who knows maybe your boss will recognize your extra effort and give you a nice raise at your next review.

Just look busy. Another suggestion is to ask one of the waitresses, when she's alone, for help or advice in how to do something. Maybe comment on her hair or something to start a conversation. You may make a friend.

Being the new kid, especially in food service, SUCKS !!
Be careful about expressing your opinion, or repeating ANYTHING, until you really learn the personalities involved.
It will take time to fit in, but if you show your determination they will accept you in time.
Good Luck.

Let them know you will not follow their click .
let them know you will not gossip or back stab
Do extra things like filling salt/pepper shakers. mustard /ketchup
Fill napkin dispensers .The reason you are singled out is because
you are the new kid on the block and he is testing you.
And the others are too..

it's hard to fit in at work. but it is also one of the most important aspects of working with others. beside doing your job to the best you can, being able to communicate with your co-workers is beneficial. if it doesn't work out find a new job.
