blocked lymph node neck?

I went to the dr 2 1/2 weeks ago for a swollen feeling in my neck on the left side. He told me that I had a blocked gland from a virus and prescribed augmentin. I just ran out of rx on Monday and was feeling better no issues with swelling unless someone touched my neck. Now its been swollen again for 24 hours - how long before this goes away

I cannot feel anything personally outside of my neck - the ENT told me not to mess around with it since it would cause more swelling and difficulty healing so I stopped touching it. He obviosly felt something and said it was blocked. I just want the feeling to go away. My neck just feels swollen dont know how else to describe it. Maybe its a node far in there somewhere. Time will tell - I think he said it could take 6 weeks. What will help take the inflammation away besides ibuprofen as I may be pregnant.

If you had an enlarge lymph node due to a virus, the antibiotics did not help. Reactive nodes can take a while to go away (a couple of weeks or more is not unusual.) If it is getting bigger or more painful I would suggest you get reevaluated. You could have a bacterial infection within the node which sometimes need surgery. It might be some other problem too. Not all neck lumps are lymph nodes.
