Assuming that the staunch environmentalists in the Northwestern part of the US think there is a cause and effect relationship with man's actions and extreme weather, what do you think there reaction to all this is? Is there sense of humor even less now?

There has been heavy rain and winds in that region for a long time, before the industrial revolution, so we didn't cause that. As far as mudslides are concerned, well, they should be more careful how they build houses and roads because that's what's causing that.
