This time the Anti-Ukrainian forces lead my country and we don't want to get back to the Kuchmism and to let Russians to tell us what to do. A few days ago Mr. Yanukovych visited the USA and I am interested in americans' attitude to this politic.

Amercians really in general don't know too much about all this, which is unfortunate, as I understand Russia has been pretty set on forcing it's will uppon the Ukrane.

However, we do have a vaugely bad additude about Vlad. Not bad enough, he's a really, really scary guy. That doesn't get enough attention in our media.

Generaly, those who know anything about the subject are sympatheic. Unfortunatly, you will find American sympathy isn't worth a whole lot.

I think Hayley's response is a gross over-simplification.

"Viktor who?" is what most Americans think about Yanukovych. Seriously, less than 5% of the Americans could identify him. If one of my countrymen could identify Ukraine on an unmarked map that'd be about the best you could hope for.

It is unfortunately true that most people in the United States don't know too much about what is going on in other countries. Not because we're bad or lazy, but because we just don't need to know that stuff for the most part, unlike most people in Europe, who are much more immediately impacted by the decisions of foreign governments. Also, we have plenty of stuff going on here at home (we have 50 states, many of which are bigger than most European nations).

Still, our general ignorance of other lands is quite unfortunate.

Your country is a pawn in a geo political chess game between the US and Russia over access to oil. Whatever goverment you have will have to be kind to whomever wins the game
