I would like to know what it is like to have a stent in a female removed. What is the proceedure and is it painful? Thanks a bunch. PS please tell me from your own experience, not anything off of the internet, thanks.

I can tell you from the doctor side of things, not the patient side.

If you have a string hanging out, they just pull it and it comes out in 2 seconds with little to no pain. (Patients express relief at having it gone)

If you don't have a string, you need a cystoscopy, which can be done with or without anesthesia (but usually without). The urologist will squirt numbing jelly into your urethra, put a scope into your bladder and grab the end of the stent. It usually takes about 5 minutes to do. Afterward, you'll probably feel like you need to pee even if you don't. because your urethra will be irritated.
