I have a year old husky mix who is perfectly housetrained. I just introduced a 4 month old corgi puppy to her, and they got along fairly well. The problem is that the corgi puppy isn't housetrained. I don't mind cleaning up her mistakes in the house, but the husky has started smelling her mistakes and then defecating or urinating right next to them! Is this normal and is there any way I can prevent this?
Thanks!

Yes, it's normal - she's covering the puppy's scent with her own. You can't prevent it, you can only keep an eye on them. You need to have the puppy confined to the room you're in to correctly housetrain her anyway, so just keep an eye on the husky at the same time. You also need to thoroughly clean to get the smells out or the husky will keep going back there.

well, I don't see the answer above in that website.
Make sure that when you DO clean up any mistakes, you use a NEUTRALIZER to clean it up. This will take the smell of urine or feces out of the area, and wont leave it for another animal to favor.
OH MY GOSH!!
OK, the answer above me now is wrong. When there ARE mistakes, you dont PUNISH... you just need to show the dog the correct place to do their elimination. If you can catch them "In the act" that is even better". Drag them outside (or onto paper, wherever you prefer) and definitely praise once they eliminate in the correct place.

You can get pads pretreated for dogs to pee and poo on it. It has a scent on it that makes dogs want to use it for those purposes. You can get it at Longs for less than at the pet store.

it is normal... just keep working with the two of them once the new puppy learns that he has to go outside then the husky will stop going in the house... since the puppy does it the husky thinks she can too
