dont eat processed, high sugar foods. Also, try to limit your intake of carbohydrates as they can bloat you. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables and lean cuts of meats and fish.

Have you thought about taking digestive enzymes? Do you know if the prescription medication you are on has any side affects? There are many reasons why people get bowel problems in their 40's. By the age of forty we have accumulated a lot of chemicals and junk from eating processed foods and preservatives from foods (6o's, 70's,80's,90's,etc.). I have had to do my own research and home work to find out that we really have to be our own health detective and manage our cleansing issues and learn about the liver, the gall bladder, the intestines, and which ones to address first in order to clear out the lower bowels. Talk to your Dr. but always do your home work. There are many natural ways to care for the body and hopefully it's not a problem that is too advanced to become your own healer. Hope you feel well soon!

If you have IBS cut out all starches and processed foods. The best things for you are veggies in soup (not raw as it is tough on your digestive track), limited sugary fruits, no grains except sprouted grains (Ezekiel bread) and limited amount of meat to that really should only include fish. Oh and no dairy products except yogurt. Try that for a week and go from there. You might also want to take probiotics and digestive enzymes to assist what your body is not doing properly. Your intestinal flora is very important and could be in bad shape at this point.

Soft? Never heard of such a thing. If your gastro doctor said that, you should sue him/her for malpractice. You need FIBER. And lots of it. My colon ruptured when I was 23 (I'm 41 now) and I have scar tissue, adhesion's and as long as I eat a lot of fiber, I am fine. Start out with a bowl of Fiber One cereal every morning. Use soy milk. You will start going regularly every morning---guaranteed.
