I use APC and have for years. They have a battery back up also that lets you have about 15/20 minutes to shut everything down if there is a sudden power outage. And they also have a separate section on the back that is just a surge protector, if you don't need the batter back up for some things.

You could get a surge protector but I'd advise spending about 20% more for an Uninterruptible power supply. You get the line clamping and surge suppression of the SP but since you're running a PC on it you get a few minutes of power in the event of a line event. I recently bought a CyberPower 485 Kva model at Staples that I maintain my work at home systems on. You'll have outlets on that for the printer and shredder that don't us the battery backup.

Start with this page from APC ... it will ask a series of questions including what devices will be attached to the device & finally select the appropriate model for you.
Yes, stay away from surge suppressors & get an uninteruptable power supply instead.

APC makes the best, and most reliable. You can get one at Walmart for $35. It is a backup battery as well. You can then plug the thing into your computer's USB slot, and it will detect when the power goes off. So lets say you aren't home, and the power goes off...your computer will shut down for you. It is very nice, and very reliable. I have had mine for 3 years.

Belkin Surgemaster is a great product. I have a PC, phone, speakers, tv, printer, and shredder on mine.
Panamax is also good and has outlets for coaxial cables.
