There is alot of research involved, I love this stuff. . .
1. Does he have family in the area, where he grew up? Call mom, dad, grandparents, aunts, uncles.
2. Who did he hang out with in school? can you contact them? What about their parents?
3. Check white pages nationally. At least your looking for a guy so you don't have to worry about name changes.

Get in touch with your highschool and see if they have a reunion site that lists classmates. See if he is still in the same area.

even if he's not on that site.. what about his friends, other people from the same class. it could be that they are still in touch - or even any brothers or sisters. if you want it that badly, try everyone who just might know... and, good luck

Have you tried Google???
Use his full name and maybe the town he lives in (if you know it) or maybe in conjunction with whatever his business is or similar
like
"John Trebecki Washington DC"
"John Trebecki Writer"
or similar?

call your high school and see if they have a record of him, or you can go to people finder also and type in his name you might need to know which state he lives in now. good luck

Myspace is awesome for finding people... search his name on google, and if you know his location, type that in too...
