Only some gases float.... Those which are the same "weight" or mass as air (well...mostly nitrogen)....or less. Other gases sink very quickly.
You can do experiments with balloons, if you like. Fill a balloon with CO2, and you'll find that it's much heavier than air. Helium or Hydrogen, of course, are much lighter, and float.
Many years ago, before we knew that CFC's were destroying the Ozone, I used to fill balloons with freon, and give them to kids in my store. They were very heavy (literally heavy), and you could throw them like a football, because of the mass of the gas.
Ultimately speaking, however, no gas (or very little) is light enough to leave the gravitational pull of earth. Even helium and hydrogen kinda just float up until they reach a level where nitrogen is so thin, that they just kinda mix in, and no longer float upwards.

it is because it has a lesser amount of protons and nuetrons than in liquids or solids with each proton and nuetron adding to its overall atomic mass. This means that gas is less dense than liquids or solids. And the gas is being pulled by the earth which is why there is no gas in space and im thinkin that it is because there is so much gas that that it just accumulates on top of each other creating the different layers of the atmosphere, this is why the air gets thinner when you go to a high altitude.
P.S.: sorry if this confused you.

Which gas? Carbon dioxide is more dense than air, so it sinks. Helium is less dense than air, so the pressure of the atmosphere pushes it up as the air tries to move downward into the space made by the helium filled balloon (air pressure is caused by gravity pulling air downward).

it quite is stated as a gasoline sending unit and it quite is attached on your gasoline pump interior the gasoline tank. however the Gage may well be undesirable. at times you may faucet on the sprint close on your Gage some circumstances and it will start up working lower back while the nice and snug button is on. it is because of the fact the gage's contacts may well be corroded. once you faucet on it and shake issues up slightly that's going to some circumstances make touch lower back. The sending unit may well be bumped off and examined.be sure you do this or have it finished once you have a million/4 of a tank or much less.Or the tank would be very heavy and your mechanic could cuss you decrease than his breath. while it quite is bumped off. take a volt meter and turn it to OHMS.image looks like a U. positioned one end of the probe on your volt meter to a minimum of one terminal on the plug on your sending unit. Then positioned the different on the different terminal. Have somebody pass the choose the flow arm up and down slowly. you're able to desire to have a low selection while the choose the flow is thoroughly down, and could upward push to a extreme selection while moved any incorrect way. If this would not take place then specific your sending unit ? gasoline pump could desire to get replaced. that's all one unit so the pump has to get replaced with it. And specific it quite is costly.

Gas is just air, it floats just like the clouds.

Things float if they are less dense than the medium they are in.

I'm just guessing but it might be that it is less dense than water.
