More specifically, I'm wondering what sort of questions they ask during the interview process. Also, I understand that they conduct a real thorough back-round check. I have nothing to hide, but am merely wondering how long this will take before they get back to me? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm going thru the process right now in Tucson. I applied late July. Did the written test and oral boards in late September. I did polygraph and fingerprints in early October and now they are barely doing background. In January I do drug screen and physical test and academy starts in Feb 2007. It's a long process. Then the academy is 17 wks plus 5 wks FTO (field training). Overall, 1 1/2 yrs probation including academy. The kind of questions they ask in oral boards are

1. How is ethics and integrity important to an officer?
2. Why do you think it's important for and off duty officer to watch his/her actions?
3. Officers are exposed to a lot of diversity. How do you think diversity is important and how do you use it in your daily life.
4. Give us a time when you were under a lot of stress and how did you handle it?

...stuff like that.

well good luck!

No most important division appears at a resume or cv. You fill out the software which asks you the entire questions they desire to understand approximately and the ones fit what they've indexed as standards and/or favored potential correct on their released recruitment internet websites. Once you will have fulfilled the ones they desire to peer how good you do on all in their checking out. The written checking out in most cases is designed to peer if you'll be able to learn, have an understanding of interpret new know-how. They have to see if you'll be able to be taught and feel. Each division is exclusive If they record having special language potential as a plus they let you know on the internet web page. If they desire you to have special math potential (in most cases state police) they are saying so. The few, out of approximately 17,500 exclusive departments, that categorical any detailed categories, no longer majors, in most cases say some thing like sociology or psych. What such a lot desire to peer is not any most important gaps wherein there was once no tuition or paintings, a good credit score historical past (if any) and a typical schooling. Work historical past wherein you handled the typical public on a one to at least one foundation is helping in a few circumstances.

Of coarse it depends greatly on where you are applying. I live in Tampa,Fl and the average process for TPD is about a year. But if you were to apply down in Lee County Fl, you'd be looking at about four to six months. The bigger the city, usually the higher pay and the longer the app process takes. Be patient.

It really depends on where you are applying but for the most part it takes about 3-4 months to complete the entire process depending on how many applicants they have.
