(d)more efficient use of the wind force would result if the boat turned and took a course 30 degrees to the right.

You choose C, yet that violates Newton's Law of action, reaction

For 2, without a diagram it is difficult to tell d. If that brings the wind more towards the stern of the boat, then it's true.

The other two are likely right.
