Some jurisdictions will allow you to pay off your tickets with service hours if you can show proof that you cannot afford to pay the fine. But it is not community service like helping the homeless, or making cookies for the elderly. It means that you will have to clean up trash from the side of the freeways. Believe me, there is LOTS of trash out there. The state minimum wage law will determine how many hours you will work to pay off the fine. There are also foremen there who will make sure that you are working and not slacking off.

Plead not guilty and get a court date. Theres a chance the officer might not show up. Then the ticket is dismissed. If found guilty tell the court you would like to do community service in lue of the fine.

Except usually when there's community service, you have to pay the cost of arranging it (or having a probation officer supervise it and/or court costs).
So I don't think you can get out of paying the fine by doing community service. But if you go to your hearing, you might be able to get the fine reduced. (Otherwise, if you don't pay, I'm guessing that your license will be suspended.)

Well....I don't know the answer to your question, really...HOWEVER...if you can't do the community service (or afford to pay the ticket), maybe you should've considered that BEFORE speeding. HELLOOOOO.
