Yeah, it would be appropriate for them. There is no cursing allowed and there is talking, too. Also, if another player is bad, you can report them and they would be banned. It is okay for them to play it but they might get too addicted to it. The good thing is that if they play for 3 hours, it will tell them that they should stop playing and rest. There is some mild violence, but no blood involved in it. The violence isn't too violent. In fact, it is safer than other games because there are a lot of helpful players around and they can help you. For the BAD PART is the CHATTING PART and that's basically all. Sometimes, the players cuss but they don't spell the word correctly and it is not censored. Very few of these players are mean and unfriendly. Also, some of the players might bully new players because this is an RPG game (a game that has levels). These players bully because they judge others on the levels they are on. They usually call the new players "noobs" (a player who played for a long time and still doesn't have that much experience and their level is low. When someone call them "newb", that isn't offensive because it only means "a new player and doesn't know much". A "noob" is someone who doesn't know anything about the game and has played for a long time. I suggest you let your kids play this game since it's not too violence, no blood involved, no cussing, and all that. Good luck on deciding!

It depends on who they run into.

MapleStory is set up to keep people from curseing but people might find a way around that. MapleStory people get real life money involved,.. so make sure they don't get their hands on your Credit Card. Buy them some thing on there once like a Pet if you want them to feel ataquit. They will learn some lessons,.. like not everyone is trustworthy.

I haven't played Nexon, sorry. MapleStory should be suitable and the majority of players are in reality the same age range as your kids so they will be amoungst peers. It's a good site for Tweens, a crash course in online social and gaming life.

Remind them noone is supposed to ask their name, age, location... etc and that anyone can lie about who they are online,.. includeing criminals... criminals RULE at that and that is how they get away with things like murder before being caught or in trouble with the law. Tell them no living Admins or Mods will ever EVER talk to them, so they should just ignore ANYONE that says they are the Law on Games like MapleStory.

Sailortinkitty, Nexon is the creator of Maple Story. Not a game just so you know.

I say that Maple Story is played by many 10-12 year olds. But most of the 10 year olds I see on the game are mean, inconsiderate brutes. (Yes, I mean it) And alot of people are being innaproppriate and there are supposed to be moderators who protect the game from abusers called Game Masters (GMs) But they don't do anything. Sometimes some players might mention S.E._ or use some special letters to get through the swear filter. We cannot control what others say.

I play maplestory myself. The game is harmless but people in there sometimes talk nonsense & can really be irritating. But there are options for you to limit the chat so therefore you won't get into much trouble. Usually I am a loner in the game so I encounter near to 0 trouble.

I guess for kids at 10 & 12 it is very safe.

I think that Maple story would be appropriate for that age group. But, with the exception of what other players may say? I play a few on line games and some of the things that other players say that show up on the game would be inappropriate for a child. Other than that I think it would be an okay game for that age group.

I'm fairly certain that they are very safe. There is no offensive or mature content on these websites. Also, these are carefully monitored by the website admins. The only cause of concern that I might see is in the website's forums, but I would not be too worried about something like that.

Maplestory is ok, but with new hacks coming out literally every day, some people have used this(hack) as an advantage and simply swear for the heck of it.

it would be appropriate for children. it is basically a cartoonish game but your kids might learn cuss words because some people cuss on the game.
