Tokyo to SINGAPORE,
1. What do businessmen wear? Casual or formal? Do I need to pack a bunch of suits and ties? What about short sleeve shirts-are they acceptable or Long Sleeve dress shirts better year round?
2. About how much would a approx 40 inch tv screen TV cost over there. If I ship my current TV running on 100 volts would it work with an adapter, shall I bring appliances?
3. kids- how is the school system? Any recs for a good intl school?
4. What in gen, should I definitely bring?
5. What should I leave behind??
Last, what are popular pets? My kid has a hamster, she wants a pet. Any recs for small household pets? Are there many pet shops around?
Sorry for the silly questions, but every answer is appreciated.

Singapore is generally a very hot country, formal clothes are mainily for business function, normally office people wear long sleeves, Jacket only when needed.
t-shirt shirts and shorts are great in this warm weather- all year round.
A 40 inch tv would cost SD3,000 - $4,000 depending on the quality
As for schools, singapore is graded good as we have a wide varity of schools. We have the neighbourhood school , independent school, private school, international school etc.. Depending on your nationality and kind of education you want your kids to have.
Singaproe is divided into many estates like east , west ,north, south etc..
We have pet shop in almost every estate in singapore or surely you can get to a shop ( of any kinds ) with just a ride of 10 minutes away.
If you are living in a flat, small animals is recommended, Hamster, cats, small dogs etc.. make good pets
I hope I have answer some of your quiries, if you need more clarifiication, feel free to mail me at : lucyrecruit@yahoo.com.sg

1. Businessmen wear formal, long sleeve shirts and ties but you can forgo the jacket. If you are a professional, then keep the jacket on. Short sleeves are not acceptable for fashion's sake (unless you are an engineer, which makes it excusable for you to dress dorkily).
2. It should work but I'm not entirely sure.
3. School system in Singapore is world class, not so sure about the international schools though. They are not using the Singapore system but the US system (although this depends on which school as well)
4. Singapore has everything you could need. Just bring yourself. Pack light.
5. Leave behind winter clothes of course! Singapore is summer all year round.
Popular pets are the usual cats, dogs, hamsters, rabbits, fishes etc. Nothing fanciful here. There are many pet shops around. You can try neighbourhood shops, Farmart, Pet Safari, or the wet market.

1. A few suits will do. Casual for the very WARM days, nearly all year round it's hot hot hot outside.
2. A few thousand Singapore dollars. It's affordable, lots of brands to choose from. Just buy it here.
3. United World College and the Singapore American School are some international schools here with a cosmopolitan mix of students from all over the world.
4. Don't need to bring much, whatever you really need, you can just buy them here.
5. Leave all the bulky stuff.
Plenty of pet shops around, in shopping malls, housing estates etc. Hamsters are good. Fish and birds (eg parrots) are popular too! Cats and dogs are generally not allowed for government housing apartment blocks or high-rise buildings. Small cats/dogs might be ok. No exotic pets like iguanas are allowed.

First of all, i have only been there once; but it's lovely.
You come from Japan, I assume.
Very formal and much certain expectation and specific cultural expectations in Japan.
My son learns the language etc., here in Australia.
RELAX, MY FRIEND.
That is my 1st piece of advice to you.
i would pack a couple of long-sleeved and a couple of short-sleeved shirts.
Things are more 'cosmopolitan' in Singapore.
Expectations are not so tight or formal.
The place is teeming with tourists, which it heavily relies on in its economy.
Because it relies so heavily on international trade and tourism, it has a very large airport, and it has to have a very open outlook re what people wear, and other cultures' preferences and expectations.
So, my main advice to you is, "Sit back ... let your girl sit back a little, and all enjoy yourselves. Overall, I'm sure you'll learn a great deal about international friendliness and tolerance.

Hybrid autos do not exist in Singapore.. yet. yet for round 70K SGD, you will get sparkling Honda or Toyota. yet save somewhat and per chance opt for a 2d hand vehicle. in case you purchase a sparkling vehicle, keep in mind that the COE isn't many times blanketed contained in the cost!
