I'm not short or anything, about 6 feet tall, and my ideal range for a woman's height is 5'5-5'8, but I wouldn't think twice as long as you are 5'3 or above. It amazes me to see girls that are 5 foot and 5'1 to hardly settle for anything but six feet and over guys. That dosen't really make sense. I mean it's great if some of you short girls prefer that, and can get a guy that likes short girls, but having a requirement so much over your height is a little strange. I've had a lot of really short girls in to me, and I think they are the superficial ones not me if they have ot have a guy that dwarfs them. Even though I am reasonably tall, with a 5'0 tall girl I'm not going to have very tall kids, and whether we like it or not, height plays a big role in our society, and it is likely to increase. I want to give my children every opportunity for success.
What are your thoughts, for both women and men?

I think you pretty much answered it in your description. It's all because of society. Everything you see in the media tells girls that the guy should be taller. There's not very many movies, TV shows, magazines, whatever that shows a girl with a shorter guy, unless it's comedy. And whether or not they know it, girls (and guys) pick up on that and think it's the way it's supposed to be. But some of us overcome that.. :)

I'm 5'51/2, with a 2 inch heel shoes i stand almost 5'8. I used to think i wouldn't want any guy shorter than 6ft. Then i met my husband and fell in love. That's when i realized " the heck with height requirements!" My husband stands 5'8.

Height really doesn't matter to me, but I want guy to be taller than me. Most girls are tall and when we wear our heels that adds a couple of inches. Maybe that's why girls want guys 6ft+.
It could be because we want a guy to protect us and be there for us. I really don't care about a guys height as long as he's taller than me. lol.

I'm 5'11. I personally always prefered guys than were 6ft or over becuase it just felt a little uncomfortable when I had to look down at a guy.
But when people love each other, height should not matter.

I agree. I have a friend who is like 4'11 and she refuses to date anyone under 6ft. I'm like "what?". Lol.
I personally do not have this requirement. My friends have actually made fun of me in the past cuz I dated men who were close to my height..which is 5'4.
I don't care about all that as long as there is something I find attractive about you.

most women want a man that is her "protector" the illusion of beoing tall will sometiimes provide that, that's why girls don't usually go out with guys that are shorted than them, they usually feel like thay are the "man" of the relationship. Society has really weird standards.

I don't think height should ever be an issue in a relationship. I am 6ft2 and my boyfriend is 5ft11 .. and as the saying goes ur the same hieght when you lay down.

I think the one who has very strict height issues it's YOU!! I am a "short" (5'2") and I don't care how tall is the guy as long as I like him and have a good personality (which seems you lack of it), my boyfriend is the perfect height for me. He is 5"7 not tall but not that short...just perfect for me!

Well, I'm just under six feet and my boyfriend of ten months is three or four inches shorter than me.
Height has absolutly nothing to do with love.

Girls like to be protected, a taller man might give them a sense of security, especially the little girls. JMO
