Gestation period also known as pregnancy in animals, but what is it called in plants?

There's no parallel in plants to a time when a plant seed is developing inside a parent--some seeds are dormant before growing, so that's a waiting period; but germination is the beginning of growth of a new plant.

Some seeds do not germinate even the conditions are favorable , they are said to be dormant.Such seeds take time to grow ,that time is called gestation period
