It is hard for someone to Scotland to get into the USA. The two ways to do it are work and marriage.
Work visas are hard to get. The US economy is not so hot right now. But if you find an employer willing to sponsor you, go for it.
Marriage only works if you are actually free to marry. That's how I did it. The process was painless (I got a good immigration attorney - well worth the money). Your intended would have to be able to support you for 3-4 months until your work permit is granted.
If you have not found them already, take a look at uscis.gov and also search for the US Embassy's London website. The latter is a bit more user-friendly. They also have a premium rate telephone line. You don't get to speak to a lusty babe who promises you she's naked and gagging for it, but they do give you really good, practical advice.
Have you actually visited the USA for any length of time? I came here five years ago and I'm just getting used to life here now. It's not as easy to adjust as many people think.

There really aren't any quick ways, that are legit at least.
Have to follow the same process everybody else does and go to the embassy. When you want to get a work visa, showing that you have full intention of staying in the United States will help you. If you show that you're coming here to make money and then leaving, you're more likely to get rejected or a tourist visa instead.
Remember that after you get here you have to file for a Social Security number as well.
After you have your green card, keep in mind that if you want to apply for citizenship, there is a condition called "continuation". You have to remain in the U.S. for 4 straight years, if you leave the country you'll have to remain in the U.S. for 2/3rds of the total years you're allowed in the country on your green card. Also if you leave the country, you can't be outside of the country longer than 6 months.
You can find out much more about this by speaking to a lawyer that deals with immigration law.
